Nickolaus Ayers

Dr. Nickolaus Ayers has dreamed of working with animals since childhood. Inspired by watching Steve Irwin on The Crocodile Hunter and developing a passion for medicine as he grew older, veterinary medicine became the perfect way to combine both interests. Originally from Gulf Shores, Alabama, Dr. Ayers earned dual bachelor's degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Auburn University at Montgomery before completing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout his veterinary education and career, he has gained extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in exotic, aquatic, and zoo animal medicine, making these species a special area of expertise.

Fear Free Certified in both Small Animal and Avian Medicine, Dr. Ayers is committed to creating a calm, low-stress experience for every patient. His professional interests include exotic and zoo animal medicine—especially aquatic species—along with soft tissue surgery and preventive care.

One of Dr. Ayers' favorite parts of veterinary medicine is building meaningful relationships with clients and their pets. He believes that partnering with pet owners and providing compassionate, community-focused care leads to the best possible outcomes for every patient.

Outside the hospital, Dr. Ayers enjoys spending time with his partner, Marissa, an equine veterinarian, and their cat, Rooney. His hobbies include reading, video games, scuba diving, hiking, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
